Thank you for the comment Gary. You’re right, in San Antonio it’s so much easier to walk to many places (which I actually did when I lived there). But as a family of five things change. I couldn’t walk my kids to school and the grocery shopping for the five of us would also be too complicated without a car

I’m from a German background by blood and I can relate to her accounts of the differences in how children are raised here and the Northern Cultures, (Europe and American). Mexicans clearly adore their children, but the little ones also get responsibilities and guidance as well so they are not spoiled. I’ve seen young kids here offer to help their parents! The Northern Cultures believe in a harsher method of raising kids which is what leads to teenage rebellion, the huge “generation gaps” and parents moaning about how their kids won’t listen to them, etc. They believe in discipline but also spoil their kids with material things. Mexicans believe in loving guidance which leads to much more happy and well behaved kids. Mexicans also have very strong ties with extended family members, many of whom live nearby and give the kids abundant affection which is returned as the younger generations take care of their elders.

Hier haben wir das gute Klima und den großen Pazifik vor der Haustür.
San Miguel ist eine Bildschöne Stadt aber als Hamburger fehlt mir da das Wasser!
